About us

Mission Statement

We are a community of students and professors united by a common belief that education is fundamental to international and public affairs. We aim to highlight the importance of education for human development and develop a platform for collaboration between SIPA, Columbia, and New York City to build on our diversity of experiences and interests in education.

About the Education Collaborative

The Education Collaborative was started by SIPA students in the fall of 2011.  Today, the group is working to bring together individuals from within SIPA and from across Columbia University and New York City with a diverse range of experiences and interests in education.

We believe that as education takes on a more complex and multifaceted role in society, it is imperative that people from a wide array of backgrounds, experiences and schools of thought work alongside one another when attending to educational issues. Our hope is that any dialogue started at Columbia will not stop here, but rather, continue on into our professional lives so that real and meaningful change can be made in the field of education.

The Education Collaborative has pursued a number of new initiatives and partnerships already, but we are looking to grow, and invite you to share your ideas with us.
