2013 Board elections

We are conducting elections for our new Board soon. Here are the details for the upcoming elections for the Board of Education Collaborative:
  • A list of positions on the Board and their responsibilities is given below.
  • To stand for any of the listed positions please fill in and submit the following Google form by 6 pm, January 31st:
Every candidate can contest for a maximum of three positions.
  • Electronic voting will start on February 1st and continue till February 4th midnight.
  • There will be a kick-off meeting on February 4th between 1 and 2 pm for members to meet and get to know their candidates.
  • The new Board will be announced on February 5th.

Positions on the Board

President

  • Set weekly meeting agendas
  • Record and disseminate weekly meeting notes
  • Delegate tasks to group members as needed
  • Maintain pulse on all of group's initiatives/projects
  • Serve as liaison between Ed Collaborative and other student groups via communication with student leaders from other schools around Columbia
  • Lead group vision-setting meeting
  • Propose new initiatives

Treasurer

  • Present the budget to get SIPASA funds
  • Keep track of expenses
  • Collect vouchers and receipts and take them to the administration office
  • Ask for reimbursements as necessary
  • Regular contact with SIPA Business Office

Co-Communications Chairs (2)

  • Update the blog with upcoming external and Ed Collaborative events, follow-ups of Ed Collaborative events, and other creative content
  • Update the blog calendar
  • Send emails to google group
  • Send out the newsletter
  • Update Facebook page
  • Prepare and print posters for events

Academic Chair

  • Maintain Ed Collaborative Course Listing
  • Assist with research and invitation of professors to speak at brown bag events
  • Serve as coordinator of Education Collaborative's advocacy within SIPA administration (professors, Concentration and Specialization Directors, etc).
  • Identify education courses of interest to SIPA students both within and outside of the school

Events Chair

  • Plan and coordinate education focused events such as meet-up events, lectures/panels, etc.
  • Include both internal and exteral events
  • Book space and order food for events
  • Help other board members coordinate their own events as well

Career Chair

  • Plan and coordinate career and networking-related events such as career panels
  • Research and communicate career and internship opportuities with members of the Ed Collaborative
  • Maintain contacts with OCS
  • Serve as student coordinator of OCS's education-themed panel.
